Our Charity

The Greek Orthodox Community of St Anthony the Great

Our parish is a registered charity in England and Wales. It is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), registered with the Charity Commission on 16 October 2023 as The Greek Orthodox Community of St Anthony the Great, charity number 1205217.

Our charitable purpose

Our constitution sets out our purpose: to advance the Orthodox Christian religion in Newcastle upon Tyne for the benefit of the public, in accordance with the doctrines and canons of the Greek Orthodox Church. We do this through prayer and worship, talks and catechism classes, public celebrations of the feasts of the Church, producing and sharing literature on the Orthodox faith, and pastoral care in the community.

We are a parish of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain, under the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

How we are run

The charity is governed by a board of volunteer trustees, who work together with our parish priest. The trustees are responsible for the parish finances, property and policies. Much of our parish life depends on the many volunteers who give their time freely.

Supporting our work

Our parish life depends on the generosity of parishioners and friends. If you would like to support our work, please see our Donations page.
