Exploring the Orthodox faith?
Many people come to the Orthodox Church after years of searching. Some come from other Christian traditions, some from none. Whatever your story, you are welcome to come, pray with us and ask questions at your own pace.
What is a catechumen? A catechumen is someone preparing to enter the Orthodox Church. The word comes from the Greek for "one who is being instructed". Catechumens attend services, learn the faith and grow in prayer, guided by the priest.
The usual path. First, come to services, talk with the priest and join our classes. When you are ready, the priest will make you a catechumen with a short service of prayer. When he judges you ready, you are received into the Church through Holy Baptism and Chrismation. How someone already baptised in another Christian tradition is received is decided by the priest, following the guidance of our Archdiocese. There is no fixed timetable.
Sponsors. Everyone entering the Church has a sponsor (godparent), an Orthodox Christian who prays for them and supports them. The priest can help you find one.
All are welcome, whether preparing for Holy Baptism or Chrismation, or simply wishing to deepen their faith. You can join at any point in the course. On Thursdays there is Vespers (6:00–6:45pm) followed by an open discussion until 8:00pm in the church hall.
Γνωρίζοντας την Ορθόδοξη πίστη
Πολλοί έρχονται στην Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία μετά από χρόνια αναζήτησης. Όποια κι αν είναι η δική σας διαδρομή, είστε ευπρόσδεκτοι να έρθετε, να προσευχηθείτε μαζί μας και να κάνετε τις ερωτήσεις σας με τον δικό σας ρυθμό.
Τι είναι ο κατηχούμενος; Κατηχούμενος είναι όποιος προετοιμάζεται για να γίνει μέλος της Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας. Οι κατηχούμενοι συμμετέχουν στις ακολουθίες, μαθαίνουν την πίστη και προχωρούν στην προσευχή, με την καθοδήγηση του ιερέα.
Όλοι είναι ευπρόσδεκτοι, είτε προετοιμάζονται για το Άγιο Βάπτισμα ή το Χρίσμα είτε απλώς επιθυμούν να εμβαθύνουν στην πίστη τους. Μπορείτε να ξεκινήσετε οποιαδήποτε στιγμή. Κάθε Πέμπτη γίνεται Εσπερινός (18:00–18:45) και ανοιχτή συζήτηση έως τις 20:00 στην αίθουσα της εκκλησίας.
