Privacy Notice

This notice explains how The Greek Orthodox Community of St Anthony the Great (registered charity (CIO) no. 1205217) uses personal information that you give us through this website. We are responsible for that information. If you have any questions, email queries@stanthonythegreat.org.uk.

What we collect

  • When you use the contact form on Visit Us, we receive your name, your email address and your message.

  • When you email us, we receive your email address and what you write.

  • When you fill in the Gift Aid declaration on Donations, online or on paper, we receive your name, your home address, your email address and your confirmation of the declaration.

  • Our website host, Squarespace, uses cookies that the site needs to work and records basic visit statistics, such as the pages viewed and the type of device. These statistics do not tell us who you are.

Why we use it

We use your details only to reply to you and to help with your request. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact the parish. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing.

We use Gift Aid declarations to claim Gift Aid from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on your donations, and we use your email address only to confirm that we have received your declaration. Our lawful basis is that charities must keep these records to claim Gift Aid.

Who sees it

Your message is read by our priest and the parish volunteers who deal with enquiries. Squarespace stores form messages for us. The map on Visit Us is provided by Google. We share information with anyone else only if the law requires it, or if it is needed to keep someone safe.

Gift Aid declarations are seen only by the people who prepare our Gift Aid claims. We give HMRC the details it asks for when it checks a claim.

How long we keep it

We keep messages only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry.

We keep Gift Aid declarations for as long as we claim Gift Aid on your donations, and then for six years after our last claim, as HMRC requires.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. To do this, email queries@stanthonythegreat.org.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
