Regular services/events at our parish

Regular Sunday Services

  • 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays: Divine Liturgy from 12:30 pm to 2:15 pm, followed by a gathering in the community hall for light refreshments.

  • 1st Sunday of the Month: A Divine Liturgy is typically held in The Catholic Church of Our Lady and Saint CuthbertBerwick-upon-Tweed from 10:30 to 12:30 followed by refreshments (click link for address).

Midweek Services & Classes

  • Wednesdays: Online Catechism Classes from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm (click link for dates and topics)

  • Thursdays: Vespers from 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm, followed by a Q&A session, Bible study, or Catechism classes until 8:00 pm.

We hold other services throughout the week in accordance with the liturgical calendar. Because our timings can change at relatively short notice—usually to add an extra service—please refer to the calendar on our home page or under the 'Calendar Events' tab for the most up-to-date schedule.

Other activities in Church Hall

Traditional Greek Dance Lessons

Every Friday from 6.30 till 7.30pm at St. John the Baptist’s church hall.
Monthly payment of £14 (£17 on months of 5 Fridays) or alternatively £3.5 per session.

Byzantine Music Lessons

Every Sunday straight after liturgy in the Priest office.
Monthly payment of £14 (£17 on months of 5 Fridays) or alternatively £3.5 per session.

Θα θέλαμε να σας ενημερώσουμε ότι την Κυριακή 28 Ιουνίου 2026 και μετά το πέρας της Θείας Λειτουργίας θα πραγματοποιηθεί η ετήσια γενική συνέλευση της ενορίας (AGM). Αρχής γενομένης από αυτή την συνέλευση και σύμφωνα με το καταστατικό που ψηφίστηκε στην προηγούμενη συνέλευση, συμμετοχή και δικαίωμα ψήφου θα έχουν μόνο όσοι είναι εγγεγραμμένα μέλη του Φιλανθρωπικού Οργανισμού (CIO) μας, ο οποίος αποτελεί τη νομική οντότητα της Ελληνικής Ορθόδοξης Κοινότητας του Αγίου Αντωνίου του Μεγάλου του Νιούκαστλ (ID: 1205217). 

Ως εγγεγραμμένα νομικά μέλη, έχετε τη δυνατότητα:

·         Να συμμετέχετε και να ψηφίζετε στις Ετήσιες Γενικές Συνελεύσεις (AGM) και στις Έκτακτες Γενικές Συνελεύσεις (SGM)

·         Να ψηφίζετε για την εκλογή μελών της Επιτροπής ή να εκλέγεστε εσείς ως μέλη της Επιτροπής. 

Για να εγγραφείτε ως μέλη πρέπει να συμπληρώσετε την σχετική αίτηση που θα βρείτε στην είσοδο της εκκλησίας καθώς και συνημμένη στο παρόν. Η ΑΙΤΗΣΗ ΠΡΕΠΕΙ ΝΑ ΣΥΜΠΛΗΡΩΘΕΙ ΧΕΙΡΟΓΡΑΦΩΣ ΚΑΙ ΝΑ ΕΠΙΣΤΡΑΦΕΙ ΣΤΗΝ ΕΚΚΛΗΣΙΑ ΜΕΧΡΙ ΤΗΝ ΚΥΡΙΑΚΗ 21 ΙΟΥΝΙΟΥ 2026. Κατόπιν, η επιτροπή θα συνεδριάσει για να αποφασίσει την έγκριση/απόρριψη εκάστης αίτησης και θα σας ενημερώσει ηλεκτρονικά.

Θα θέλαμε να διευκρινίσουμε ότι η εν λόγω αίτηση αφορά καθαρά και μόνο την συμμετοχή στο νομικό κομμάτι της ενορίας (συνελεύσεις/αποφάσεις/επιτροπές/ψηφοφορία) και όχι στο θρησκευτικό. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι μπορείτε να συμμετέχετε στις ακολουθίες της ενορίας μας ακόμη κι αν επιλέξετε να μην είστε μέλος του Φιλανθρωπικού Οργανισμού (CIO) μας.

Christ is Risen!

We would like to inform you that on Sunday, June 28, 2026, following the Divine Liturgy, the parish’s annual general meeting (AGM) will be held. Effective from this meeting and in accordance with the constitution voted on at the previous meeting, only those who are registered members of our Charitable Organisation (CIO), which is the legal entity of the Greek Orthodox Community of St. Anthony The Great of Newcastle upon Tyne (ID: 1205217), will have the right to participate and vote.

As registered legal members, you have the opportunity to:

·         Participate and vote at Annual General Meetings (AGM) and Special General Meetings (SGM)

·         Vote for the election of Committee members or stand for election as a Committee member.

To register as a member, you must complete the relevant application form, which can be found at the church entrance and is attached to this email. THE APPLICATION MUST BE FILLED OUT BY HAND AND RETURNED TO THE CHURCH BY SUNDAY, JUNE 21, 2026. The eligibility criteria The committee will then meet to decide on the approval or rejection of each application and will notify you via email.

We would like to clarify that this application pertains solely to participation in the legal aspects of the parish (meetings/decisions/committees/voting) and not to religious activities. This means that you may participate in our parish services even if you choose not to be a member of our Charitable Organisation (CIO).
